Atkins Vs Paleo - What Works and What Doesn't
Recently I've seen a lot of websites and books make comparisons between the Paleo Diet and the Atkins diet. "It's like Atkins," they say, "but you can eat fruit!" I understand that a lot of people in our community are trying to convert non-believers from other diets. And I understand that having someone make the switch from Atkins to Paleo probably isn't much of a stretch. But in my opinion, trying to say the Atkins Diet is like the Paleo Diet doesn't do the Paleo Diet any favors and ignores the key concepts of the diet. It's really not like the Atkins Diet at all.

Protein Bars Comparable to Medifast Bars
I'm often asked if one has to buy the Medifast products to get the same dramatic results. Sometimes, people ask me why they can't just buy bars and shakes from the grocery store and hope for the same weight loss as they might have gotten on Medifast. They perceive that the grocery or health food store foods are cheaper (although most time they really aren't.) This article will compare some of the popular grocery store protein bars with the real deal, to see if it makes sense to cut corners.

The Candida Diet is a necessary evil, as many of my patients will agree. If you are a Candida sufferer, the diet is something that "you can't live with yet you can't live without." The diet is feared, hated, despised, misunderstood, and often can make the difference between the success and failure in the elimination of the yeasty beast! The purpose of this article is not to explain what the Candida Diet is. This can actually be found on our website in the "patient only section," or by simply searching the Candida Diet on the internet. The purpose here is to explain why it is important!

Acid Alkaline Diet Benefits & Why It Is Recommended
If you have heard of the Atkins diet, then the Acid Alkaline Diet is the complete opposite of that. The Atkins diet is a high protein, high fat but low carbohydrates diet. But such diets have a tendency to leave one low on energy and also they seem to be improper gastronomically speaking. An acid alkaline diet on the other hand is not only useful for weight loss but over an above that is extremely beneficial to the body functioning. An Acid alkaline, also known as an alkaline ash diet, alkaline acid diet and the alkaline diet, keeps the ph level of the body balanced and so safeguards against various illnesses. Even chronic diseases like arthritis can be not only prevented but also cured if such a diet is followed.

Diet Plans Comparable to Medifast
I sometimes get questions from folks who want a list of diets, weight loss systems, or health food plans that are like or comparable to medifast. There are many reasons that people want to know this. Maybe they are researching their options and want to make sure that they are making the absolute best choice. Perhaps they've been able to identify what they've liked or didn't like on previous diets and are looking to make sure that the diet that they pick is going to match their personality a little better. Or, maybe they're wanting the cheapest or most cost effective diet and want to make sure that this is what they are getting. No matter why they are asking the question, I always try to give a complete answer, which I'll go over in the following article.

Low Carb Diets Like Atkins Or South Beach: People are sometimes surprised when I list these two diets as comparable to medifast but they really are. Here's why. Sure, this is a low calorie diet and I'm sure that this does help greatly with the results, but I honestly believe that it works so well because of ketosis (which is the metabolic phase which requires high amounts of protein and low amounts of carbohydrates to wake up your body's fat burning abilities. ) I attribute almost all of my success with this diet on the fact that it's a rare occasion that I am bumped out of ketosis and I can see this very clearly by using ketone strips.

Diet Plans Comparable to Medifast
So yes, this is technically a low carb diet, but it isn't typical. I had previous success on Atkins but like many people, I worried about fat and cholesterol. Plus, I enjoy protein and meats as much as the next person, but I also like snacks and sweets regularly so I don't feel as though I'm in a rut or am being deprived. And, trying to make regular foods out of proteins gets old. Who wants squash spaghetti or cream cheese based desserts any time you want to splurge?
Diet Plans Comparable to Medifast
I find medifast to be preferable to south beach and Atkins simply because I do get to have my snacks and carbs. I get to eat oatmeal and have shakes and chocolate, peanut, or caramel bars. I can also create cookies, muffins and other baked goods from the plan's foods. I like the convenience of having most of my meals prepared for me and while I do prepare one meal each day on my own, I'm eating more regular foods that don't require anything overly special and am not having to try to pass protein alternatives off for carbohydrate snacks and foods. Making each meal without any carbs gets rather old pretty quickly.
Other Prepackaged Diets Like Jenny Craig And Nutrisystem: On the other side of the coin are the meal replacement plans which are in theory similar to medifast. There are a lot of similarities between these weight loss plans. All three mostly provides you with your meals. All three have a low amount of calories and carbohydrates while maintaining a high amount of protein and fiber. And all three have you eating very regularly (from five to six times per day.)
There are some differences in the details, however. Jenny Craig is relatively more expensive (it has sign up fees) and it requires you to go to a clinic for accountability and counseling. You also must buy your meals at the clinic. Some people like this support and others find this to be a bit stifling and too much commitment for those with a busy life.
Nutrisystem, while being very similar, requires more preparation. You are asked to add in sides that you prepare yourself with each and every meal. With medifast, you only have to prepare the one meal so you're not working as hard, at least in my opinion. And you also have less vulnerable places where you can make mistakes of what you are adding in.
Medifast Costs Less Than Most Comparable Diets: Many people who want lists or articles about diets like this one ask because they are trying to save money. But they are often surprised to know that medifast is the least expensive of all these diets. With Atkins and South Beach, you're having to buy a bunch of groceries and need to prepare each and every meal. Jenny Craig charges a sign up fee and their meals run at least per day. Nutrisystem is often around - per day and requires more groceries because you have to add in foods at every meal.
At per day if you are using coupons, Medifast is the cheapest at first glance and also more cost effective when looked at closely because you are only having to shop for the groceries for one meal each day. Whether this turns out to be the right diet for you depends greatly on how much food preparation you want to do and how much accountability and support that you think you want or need.

The basis of a diet that is acid alkaline lies in the fact that our body ph ideally should be a 7.3. This slightly alkaline level of the body ph keeps all the vital organs functioning well, as well as the absorption of various minerals is optimized. When this ph tilts to the acidic side trouble starts brewing. An acidic ph level leads to almost all body parts suffering in one way or the other. Now since our body needs to be alkaline in nature it should reflect in our food intake too. Foods that are alkalizing should be consumed mush more as opposed to the acidifying foods. Translated in a simpler language this would mean more of vegetable and fruit consumption and very low meats and oil intake. If the body's alkaline minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium levels drop so will its health causing it to degenerate and its defenses to drop guard. An alkaline diet protects that from happening. An acid alkaline or an alkaline ash diet comprises of 80% alkalizing foods and 20 % acidic foods. Since the acid alkaline ratio in the body should be one is to four our food intake should be of similar nature.

Acid Alkaline Diet Benefits & Why It Is Recommended
An alkaline diet is not only recommended to shed those extra pounds but is also and more importantly a great means of regaining lost health and leading a longer and more diseases free life. This diet is especially recommended to those who feel tired most of the time. Stress and a low energy level can both be done away with a diet that is acid alkaline. Those who suffer from frequent viral fevers or those who have a nasal congestion most of the time can lead healthier lives if they have a diet that is acid alkaline. Weak nails, dryness, headaches, muscle pain, hives, joint pains, and many more such diseases find their answer in an alkaline ash diet.
Acid Alkaline Diet Benefits & Why It Is Recommended
A higher level of vegetable intake is recommended in an alkaline ash diet. Lemons should be squeezed into water drinks. Millet or quinoa is preferred over wheat, olive oil over vegetable oil and soups like miso are very useful for following an alkaline ash diet.
Lost health and vigor can be regained and many chronic illnesses prevented as well as cured if an acid alkaline diet is followed. It is a fairly easy diet plan, which should adapt for a longer and healthier life span.

The Atkins Diet is NOT the Paleo Diet
Atkin Diet
Atkins Vs Paleo - What Works and What Doesn't
The Atkins Diet, for most people, is not a life-long endeavor. It's not a lifestyle. It's a way to cut weight by keeping your carbohydrates as close to zero as possible. I recently spoke to someone that mentioned she was going to do Atkins (again) because she was happy with her weight loss in Phase 1. And Phase 1 is understandably where most people fall off the Atkins wagon. Nobody wants to eat bacon and sausage every day of their life because eating a grape fruit would send their body out of ketosis and kill their weight loss.
Atkins Vs Paleo - What Works and What Doesn't
The Paleo Diet isn't based on counting carbohydrates, or grams of fat, or even calories. It is based on the principle that you should eat what our ancestors ate. And that's it. Our ancestors didn't eat pre-packaged, sodium-rich "meat products" -- they ate MEAT. While these meat-products are fine on the Atkins diet as long as they don't add to your carbohydrate count, someone following a paleolithic lifestyle would assuredly pass on them. Our ancestors didn't eat Whole Grain Wheat toast or "Heart-Healthy" Cheerios, they ate wholesome vegetables, fruits, and nuts.
There is no induction phase for the Paleo Diet.
You don't lose weight rapidly for 2 weeks and then plateau off.Weight loss with paleo happens all the time throughout the course of your life until you reach your ideal body weight. Eating natural foods, you will find it extremely hard to reach enough calories to gain any weight and the closer you are to your ideal weight, the less calories your body will need to consume, the less you will eat.
Foods that are calorie dense (such as meats) will keep you full for hours, making you eat less of them. Between meals you can snack on fruits and vegetables that provide essential nutrients and vitamins but won't pack on the calories. Some vegetables and most fruits are severely limited or banned on the Atkins diet because of their natural carbohydrates.
In my experience on the Atkins Diet, there was never really a time that I didn't crave cakes, or sweets, or fruit. I tried to block them out. I tried to get my mind off of them. But I always wanted them.
On the Paleo Diet you don't miss out on the sweet taste of fruit -- because you can eat as much of it as you want. You don't miss eating cakes because you can make your own cakes without wheat flour. Pizza? You can eat that, too, as long as you make it yourself using natural ingredients. The best part of Paleo is the community. If you have a craving for something, you can be sure that someone else has made a paleo variation of it and posted it on the internet.
In the first four months after starting the Paleolithic Diet, I had lost over 40lbs and my wife had lost over 50lbs, eating delicious food that we wanted to eat.
The Paleo Diet is for Designed for Your Health
While the Atkins diet may be healthier for you than eating a bag of Doritos, you're still loading your body with unnatural preservatives, sodium, and other industrial garbage while never really getting the essential nutrients your body needs to thrive.
There is anecdotal evidence that the Paleo Diet treats or can even cure illnesses like cancer, Rheumatoid arthritis, Multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease and adult onset (Type 2) diabetes.
In my own case, the Paleo Diet cured me of GERD and allowed me to stop taking all of my prescribed medications.
Conclusion
As you can see, the Paleo Diet and the Atkins Diet are two diametrically opposed diets. They may be similar in that they both condone eating meat, but that's really where the similarities end, as each diet comes to that conclusion through vastly different philosophies. Based on my own experiences with both diets, I choose the Paleo Diet for Life.

The dinner should be not later than 7 p.m. and it is also recommended to drink a big glass of water before each meal. Try not to consume any liquids during 1,5 - 2 hours after each meal.

Simply wearing a corset will reduce your waistline by a couple of inches, which will in turn improve your posture, support your lower back and make your clothes look better. And this is before you have even begun to "diet"!
Atkin Diet
The Corset Diet
Wearing a corset puts pressure on your stomach as well as your waistline. One of the reasons people lose weight when they have gastric bypass surgery is because their stomach is made smaller, so they feel full much more quickly. A corset will produce a similar effect by putting pressure on the stomach, causing us to feel full much more quickly. Food may also digest more slowly, keeping us from wanting to eat again for a longer period of time.
The Corset Diet
You will need to have a well-fitted corset that is comfortable for daily wear. Some people may be able to wear a standard size corset, but remember that a custom fitted corset is always more comfortable. If you want to start corseting quickly, we recommend that you order a stock-size corset AND a custom fitted corset. You can get started on a limited basis while you wait for your custom corset to arrive. Otherwise you will want to plan ahead 4-8 weeks for your custom corset to be completed. Contact Corset Connection.com with your measurements for help on selecting the correct corset, and please let us know what your goals are.
Put your corset on as soon as you wake up in the morning. If you shower in the mornings, then do that immediately upon wakening, and put your corset on directly afterwards. If you eat or drink anything at all your corset will not go on as easily.
Lace the corset snugly, but not tightly, and get ready for your day. Before leaving your home or starting your day, lace the corset a little tighter, so that it is quite snug, but not uncomfortable. If you experience bloating or discomfort during the day be sure to loosen the laces. If anything is at all painful you will want to remove your corset. Do NOT remove your corset directly after eating a good-sized meal, or you will experience discomfort. After eating you will feel full, and if you remove the corset this will lessen the pressure on your stomach and may cause stomach pain or cramping. This is another good reason to not overeat while wearing a corset.
What to eat.
There are certain foods that do not combine well with corset wear. Foods that cause gas can cause discomfort while wearing a corset, as can overeating. Many people find that avoiding carbohydrates helps them while corseting, although we feel that a balanced diet is important, and avoiding certain food groups is not always a good idea.
Probably the best way to eat healthily while corseting is follow a method of "food combining". There are various eating plans which follow this theory, including (but not limited to) Atkins, Southbeach, Suzanne Somers, Macrobiotics and Marilu Henner's Total Health Makeover.
Exercise.
You must exercise. This is critical to any weight loss plan, but especially important when incorporating corset wear. The corset will support your stomach and lower back, and you will not be using the muscles in these areas as you normally do.
Walking is a great exercise that can be done while you are wearing your corset, but all other forms of exercise should be done without your corset. If you have a regular exercise routine then simply take your corset off before exercising, and put it back on when you are done.
If you do not currently exercise you will need to, at a very minimum, start a regular plan of daily stretching and toning exercises. We recommend that you start this stretching and toning plan at least a week before you start to wear your corset so that you will know what your body can do comfortably. You may be achy and sore when you first remove your corset, and the exercising will help tremendously.

I will also explain how the diet is generally healthier than most diets that are being followed in the 21st century.
Atkin Diet
The Candida Diet
The Candida Diet is low in carbohydrates, low in sugar, and generally low in fermented foods like vinegar, alcoholic beverages, etc. Candida feeds on sugars. Sugars make it grow and strengthen its adherence to the intestinal lining. While on a Candida Diet, the total amount of carbohydrates for the day should not exceed 150 grams. At the Biamonte Center, we use 3 versions of the Candida Diet that range between 30-50 grams, 60-90 grams, and 100-150 grams of total carbohydrates for the day. Avoiding sugar and alcohol are the most important factors. These substances can cause the fastest and greatest increase in Candida growth. They are the most dangerous. Starches come next. Starches convert to sugars in your body. Candida can feed on healthy sugars just the same as it can on junk food. Many of your patients will notice that sweet fruits will flare their symptoms just as noticeably as junk foods! When eating starches (carbohydrates), choosing those foods that have a lower "glycemic index" rating is best. The glycemic index is a scale that rates how fast a food converts to sugar in you blood stream. Examples of the glycemic index can easily be found on the internet. Fermented foods like soy sauce, vinegar, etc. can be important to avoid, especially if the person has reactionary symptoms from the food. These foods often produce an allergic reaction in the Candida sufferer's intestinal tract which can upset the good flora and the intestinal immune response. Foods from the fungus family like mushrooms, etc. can be allergens in the same manner as the fermented foods.
The Candida Diet
Foods high in yeast can have a similar effect to fermented foods and the foods from the fungal family. Foods that contain yeast do not contain Candida. They contain baker's yeast. This is not Candida. These foods can aggravate Candida by causing allergic reactions, but they cannot cause Candida.
The Candida Diet, though apparently restrictive, is actually higher in nutrients than the diet of the average American. The Candida Diet in fact is very similar to "The South Beach Diet," "The Zone," and "The Hunter/Gatherer Diet" (also known as the "Paleolithic Diet"). There are races of people who are all slimmer, stronger, and faster than us. They all have straight teeth and perfect eyesight. Arthritis, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, stroke, depression, schizophrenia, and cancer are absolute rarities to them. These people are the last 84 tribes of hunter-gatherers in the world. They share a secret that is over 2 million years old. Their secret is their diet- a diet that has changed little from that of the first humans 2 million years ago, and their predecessors, up to 7 million years ago. Theirs is the diet that man evolved on, the diet that is coded for in our genes. It has some major differences to the diet of "civilization." You are in for a few big surprises.
The diet is usually referred to as the "Paleolithic Diet," referring to the Paleolithic or Stone Age era. It is also referred to as the "Stone Age Diet," "Cave Man Diet," or the "Hunter/Gatherer Diet." More romantic souls like to think of it as the diet that was eaten in the "Garden of Eden," and they are correct in thinking so. For millions of years, humans and their relatives have eaten meat, fish, fowl, and the leaves, roots, and fruits of many plants. One big obstacle to getting more calories from the environment is the fact that many plants are inedible. Grains, beans, and potatoes are full of energy but are all inedible in the raw state, as they contain many toxins. There is no doubt about that- please don't try to eat them raw. They can make you very sick.
Around 10,000 years ago, an enormous breakthrough was made- a breakthrough that was to change the course of history, and our diet, forever. This breakthrough was the discovery that cooking these foods made them edible- the heat destroyed enough toxins to render them edible. Grains include wheat, corn, barley, rice, sorghum, millet, and oats. Grain based foods also include products such as flour, bread, noodles and pasta. The cooking of grains, beans, and potatoes had an enormous effect on our food intake- perhaps doubling the number of calories that we could obtain from the plant foods in our environment.
Grains, beans, and potatoes (GBP) share the following important characteristics:
-- They are all toxic when raw. There is no doubt about this; it is a fact that no competent source would dispute. They can be extremely dangerous and it is important never to eat them raw or undercooked. These toxins include enzyme blockers, lectins, and other types. I will talk about them in detail later as they are very important.
-- Cooking destroys most but not all of the toxins. Insufficient cooking can lead to sickness such as acute gastroenteritis.
-- They are all rich sources of carbohydrate, and once cooked, this is often rapidly digestible, giving a high glycemic index (sugar spike).
-- They are extremely poor sources of vitamins (particularly vitamins A, B-group, folic acid, and C), minerals, antioxidants, and phytosterols.
Therefore diets high in grains, beans, and potatoes (GBP):
-- contain toxins in small amounts
-- have a high glycemic index (i.e. have a similar effect to raw sugar on blood glucose levels)
-- are low in many vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytosterols ( i.e. they are the original "empty calories")
-- have problems caused by the GBP displacing other foods
As grains, beans and potatoes form such a large proportion of the modern diet, you can now understand why it is so common for people to feel they need supplements or that they need to detoxify (i.e. that they have toxins in their system). Indeed both feelings are absolutely correct. The essentials of the Paleolithic Diet are:
-- Eat none of the following: (Note the following is not the Candida Diet - this information is present in order to compare the Candida Diet to the Paleolithic Diet.)
-- grains- including bread, pasta, noodles
-- beans- including string beans, kidney beans, lentils, peanuts, snow-peas, and peas
-- potatoes
-- dairy products
-- sugar
Eat the following: (Note the following is not the Candida Diet- this information is present in order to compare the Candida Diet to the Paleolithic Diet.)
-- meat, chicken, and fish
-- eggs
-- fruits
-- vegetables (especially root vegetables, but definitely not including potatoes or sweet potatoes)
-- nuts, e.g. walnuts, Brazil nuts, macadamia, almond- Do not eat peanuts (a bean) or cashews (a family of their own)
-- berries- strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc.
Try to increase your intake of:
-- root vegetables- carrots, turnips, parsnips, rutabagas, Swedes
-- organ meats- liver and kidneys (I accept that many people find these unpalatable and won't eat them.)
This diet strongly resembles the typical Candida Diet, which in fact is higher in nutrient density than most diets that are followed by the average American.
From a layman's point of view, we can say that we use the diet to starve Candida in order to kill it. From a more scientific point of view, sugars, when metabolized by Candida cells, help Candida to adhere to the intestinal lining in order to hold on and keep its grip on you! Therefore, the avoidance of sugars can weaken the grip that the Candida has on your intestinal lining.
Sugars also make up and comprise the outer most layers of the yeast cells. A flip to this statement is the sugar, "Mannose." The sugar, Mannose, is currently being researched by this author, as it has shown the ability to block the adherence of Candida to the vaginal lining and perhaps the intestinal lining.
Candida above all is a yeast/fungus so it can be considered vegetation, like a mushroom. Like brewer's yeast, it metabolizes sugars and converts them to toxic alcohols called aldehydes. Many of the symptoms of Candida are produced by this toxic alcohol, the toxic proteins called antigens, mycotoxins (fungal toxins), and the neurological toxins (neurotoxins) that the Candida produces. When Candida is fed sugars, it not only strengthens its grip on you but it produces more of these toxins. Starches and carbs are naturally broken down and converted to sugars by your own body. This is normal for your health. However, Candida will eat these sugars as well. Fermented foods contain predigested sugars and substances that react like an allergen with your Candida. So sugars, starches, alcohol, and fermented foods feed Candida and make it worse! They also make it harder for medicines to kill Candida.
Diet, however, rarely causes Candida. It is usually caused by antibiotics, steroids, birth control pills, and other drugs. However, a diet high in sugar, starch, and alcohol, consumed during a period of extreme stress, can bring Candida about as if one took these medications.
At the Biamonte Center, the Candida Diet is used to weaken the Candida by starving it. This makes it more susceptible to the anti-yeast/ anti- fungal substances that we use. The Candida Diet is not used to kill the Candida as its own weapon. Diet very rarely can eliminate Candida. Candida grows a root system into your blood vessels. Here it taps into you blood and feeds on blood glucose and other nutrients. There is always enough blood glucose to keep the Candida alive, despite being on a low carbohydrate diet or even if you fasted. Fasting cannot kill Candida! This is because even when you fast, your body must keep a normal level of glucose (blood sugar) circulating for your brain and muscles to work. However, the low carb diet weakens it, like a weed which has had little water for some time.
Even when it is barely alive, it can continue to survive. And if "watered and fed properly," could grow again, returning to its former glory.
This is a very important concept to understand when we consider the importance and place the diet treatment holds in the elimination of Candida.
DIET RARELY ELIMINATES CANDIDA. ITS PURPOSE IS TO MAKE THE CANDIDA WEAKER SO THAT THE MEDICINES CAN TOTALLY DESTROY IT!
When you cheat on the diet, the Candida can temporarily increase. If one cheats for 1 day on the diet but continues the Candida rotation and phase 0, little will happen to set one back. Any increase in growth can be reduced within 1-2 days. The more one cheats, the more Candida grows. If one does the program but does not follow the diet, either no progress will be made or the person will continually feel ill from feeding the Candida, then making it grow, and then killing it and becoming toxic from the dead Candida wastes!
So when you cheat a day or so here and there on the diet, it does not defeat the entire program, providing that you stay on the anti-fungal rotation and Phase 0.
WHY IS GLUTEN AND MILK EXCLUDED IN CANDIDA DIETS?
Many of the Candida diets also suggest excluding Gluten and Casein (milk protein) from the diet. What isn't explained is why. It is observed that most, but not all Candida patients worsen when eating these foods.
A possible theory as to why is that an underlying allergy to these foods causes damage to the intestinal condition, where damage to the intestinal villi occurs. These villi are finger- like hairs that absorb nutrients that pass through the intestines. This damage causes putrefaction and decay of food in the intestines due to malabsorption.
In that case, the Candida is provided with food so it can continue to proliferate. This can also suppress normal, healthy flora and the intestinal immune response. The underlying problem is gluten-induced intestinal damage, but because the Candida is easier to identify, the underlying pathology is missed. Candida could easily eat these foods and release allergens as a by product of its metabolism, which causes intestinal allergies and further degrades the intestinal flora.
WEIGHT GAIN AND CANDIDA
"It's Not Your Fault"
If you have failed to lose weight despite following a diet exactly, it could be due to Candida. The late Dr. Robert Atkins, an international expert on the low carbohydrate diet, says in his books that Candida or low thyroid function can prevent weight loss despite a low carbohydrate diet. Candida adversely affects your metabolism and interferes with many hormones, nutrients, and the body's ability to burn fat!
One of the major secondary problems associated with Candida Albicans is weight gain. A number of the problems associated with losing weight and staying with a diet are due to Candida Albicans. A person with Candida Albicans will often crave sugar and simple carbohydrates because this is the main source of nutrients for yeast. Mood swings and depression are often associated with the rapid change in blood sugar levels caused by the yeast.
Lower thyroid function, lower Dhea levels, Estrogen dominance, and elevated Cortisol levels are all typical in someone with chronic Candida. Each of these situations has been known to contribute to weight gain or difficulty losing weight. Focusing on removing Candida Albicans from the body rewards the dieter with a feeling of well being and weight loss that is steady, sustainable, and healthy. Very often a person trying to lose weight will not be able to do so because of a Candida infection.
A NEW MIRACLE FOOD TO STOP SUGAR AND CARBOHYDRATE CRAVINGS SO YOU CAN STAY ON THE DIET!
Hemp Hearts (Shelled Hemp Seed) is a natural food that is concentrated with all of the required proteins, essential fats, and many vitamins and enzymes, and contains only insignificant quantities of saturated fats and carbohydrates.
Because Hemp Hearts provides people with an excellent balance of proteins and essential fats, they will have less difficulty avoiding the sugar and starchy carbohydrates that cause obesity and many other late onset health problems. Individuals who use Hemp Hearts as described above--eating them in the morning for their nutritional essentials, to increase their energy and reduce their dependence on sugar and carbohydrates, and having all day to burn off the calories--these individuals always experience profound health benefits.
Except for those with diabetes and other conditions which may seem to require individuals to eat more frequently, most people eat at least four, but usually five, measuring tablespoons of Hemp Hearts early each morning, preferably on fruit and yogurt (vegetables for diabetics), but also sometimes on cereal. They frequently report that they are not yet hungry at lunch time, and often only slightly hungry at three or four o'clock in the afternoon. Those who are overweight can quite easily limit themselves to a large salad in the afternoon. Because those who eat Hemp Hearts in quantity every morning are nutritionally satisfied, they have less difficulty avoiding foods made with sugar, flour, potatoes, pasta, and rice, and they are less inclined to regain lost weight.

Some of these low carb diet side effects can be problematic for people with health conditions, particularly if they're taking medications for those conditions. Often the side effects are good, but you need to be aware they can happen and talk to your medical care provider because they'll need to monitor your progress and possibly change, reduce, or eliminate medications as you progress.
Atkin Diet
Low Carb Diet Side Effects
For instance, a very common low carb diet side effect is lowered, or more even blood sugar levels. This is an important low carb diet side effect for any diabetic, particularly ones that take insulin shots or medication. Since low carb diets can drastically reduce your blood sugar levels naturally, your doctor may need to adjust your medication levels to compensate for those changes.
Low Carb Diet Side Effects
Another low carb diet side effect is of course losing a lot of weight. This by itself is not technically a side effect, but related effects of losing weight can include regulation of blood pressure, easing or disappearance of digestive tract problems, and resolution of breathing problems too.
If you're taking high blood pressure medication, then the side effect of having that lowered from eating a low carb diet will need to be addressed by your doctor or medical care specialist. The same applies for digestive troubles, if you experience resolution to those problems as a low carb dieting side effect, your doctor will need to adjust or eliminate the medications you take.
Now if you don't take medications for conditions such as those listed above, you may still experience low carb diet side effects, but they're likely to be ones you're happy to have.
Common, "good" low carb diet side effects include reduced cravings for sugars and starches; increased energy; reduced bloated and gassy, upset stomach feelings; improved bowel movements; regulated blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels; loss of excess water retention; and of course, loss of excess body fat.
There are some low carb diet side effects that are not harmful, but you need to be aware of them because they are uncomfortable at best. These low carb diet side effects are more common during the first one to five days on the diet, and are side effects of your body adjusting to your eating changes. These side effects can include headaches; nausea; dizziness; lethargy or low energy; severe sugar cravings; irritability; and constipation.
There are also a couple of women specific low carb diet side effects. In the first week or two of your new low carb diet, you may experience oddities with your monthly menstrual flow. Usually this side effect lasts a short time though, and is caused by your body adjusting to the new eating lifestyle you've chosen. A great low carb diet side effect comes later: Women's menstrual flow is usually reduced, and there is generally much less pain or other problems involved while you're on a low carb diet.
Many of those early low carb diet side effects can be reduced by drinking extra water and getting plenty of rest, plus making sure you don't go hungry. In rare cases these initial low carb diet side effects can last as long as ten days, but usually they're present from approximately the third to the fifth day of your low carb diet.

What Makes Medifast Bars Work So Well?: Protein bars have come a long way since they first came out. The initial offerings were chalky, crumbly, and well, sometimes just plain nasty tasting. But, most of the bars today have become chewy, decent textured and tasty. Most of the manufacturers have wised up and added decadent flavors like peanut butter and chocolate. For dieters, a good bar can be an easy sell because these little snacks are so convenient and some are actually good for you.

Protein Bars Comparable to Medifast Bars
Notice I said some, not all. Many of the grocery store offerings are very high in calories. Some of them are also high in carbs. And, this is the exact reason that most just don't give you the same results. Below, I'll compare two popular grocery store bars with the real bars, but I will say now that most of these aren't going to get you in ketosis or fat burning mode because the calorie content is simply too high.
Protein Bars Comparable to Medifast Bars
Comparing Medifast Bars To Grocery Store Bars Like Atkins And Snickers: First up, the Atkins bars. I'm going to be comparing the Advantage peanut butter bar. This one has a whopping 240 calories, with 108 of them being from fat. These have twelve grams of fat and they provide 30% of the daily recommendations of calcium and 25% of the recommended daily amount of vitamins C and A. The carbohydrate content is 22.
Now, I'll look at the Medifast peanut butter version. This one has 140 calories. This is 100 calories less, which in terms of ketosis can be quite significant. These have two less carbs than the Atkins version (at 20.) There is only 4 grams of fat. The vitamin and mineral list is quite long here. These have at least 25% (and often more) of the recommended requirements for vitamins A, D, C, K, B, B6, B12 as well as a long list of others (24 total, to be exact.) Nutrition wise, these are head and shoulders above the Atkins.
Snickers Marathon Energy Bars: Well, the name here might tip you off a bit as this manufacturer makes candy bars. But, let's look at the calories first. It has a whopping 210 calories, which is not as high as Atkins but is still much higher than Medifast. There are 8 grams of fat in these, which is quite a bit, but not as much as Atkins. Where this one really rings warning bells for me is that it has a whopping 26 grams of carbohydrates. There are 16 vitamins and minerals listed on the label. Again, this is better than some of the others, but not great either.
You also want to take a look at how the ingredients are listed. Most of these bars will have high fructose corn syrup somewhere in the front. The real bars have protein listed as the first ingredient. Hopefully, this article has shown you that although these grocery store bars may work in a pinch, they don't begin to have low enough calories or the nutritional content to work in the long term or to put you in ketosis. Most of them are not cheap either. In my humble opinion, you're much better off ordering the real deal from the company, which does allow you to order the bars individually if you chose to.

Fortunately I persevered and tried again and again because this was one of my major life goals. This was because with each diet I was gaining more weight afterwords. So the need was becoming much more acute because of the health risks that were very serious.

With each diet failure I felt that I had learned something that was unique about that particular diet. This made me realize that I should really become an avid student of diets to learn if there was something I was doing wrong. So I kept reading about the success others had achieved with the Atkins diet and I could see there must be a missing link.

That is when I found out that the Atkins diet was not about just eating tons of cheese and hot dogs, but was rather a well though out diet plan that I needed to get a copy of. So I borrowed the book from my public library and read it from cover to cover. This led me to the realization that I needed to follow the Atkins diet plan as it was exactly in the book.
What happened was after I got serious about the Atkins diet I lost a bunch of weight. Pretty soon I was free of over thirty pounds!
To make sure that I would be very successful I summarized all the details and read it over every week to make sure that I was doing everything right. If you would like a copy of this summary please check out http://www.low-carb-counter.com for a free copy of the Atkins diet plan.

Medifast Dangers - Is the Medifast Diet Risky or Not?
Remember, if you have any unusual illnesses or a medical history that is more complicated than most, you should always make sure a particular diet is right for you. Alternatively of course, you can always visit the diet that you are interested in starting and simply make CERTAIN there is nothing that would contravene your particular needs with the overall program.
Medifast Dangers - Is the Medifast Diet Risky or Not?
Specific Concerns on the Medifast Diet?
If you are over 65, you should consult a physician before starting. Medifast is a low calorie diet, so you should be someone who is generally healthy enough to be happy consuming 1000-1200 calories a day! Medifast is not recommended for pregnant women! But overall - Medifast is not only very SAFE, it's a great choice for ANYONE who needs to lose 10 pounds (or more!) in a quick, painless and tasty way for sure! Remember, where Medifast differs from many other potentially "risky" diets that are on the market, is while your caloric consumption is going to be low....your NUTRITIONAL values are probably going to be FAR higher than the foods you were eating BEFORE you started! And that is a safe and HEALTHY decision for sure!
